Magazine design, layout, and pagination represent an appealing design style to me, largely due to the ample blank pages that offer the freedom to create a personalized design. The process of studying the photos and comprehending the content allows me to create a layout that best represents the content. Moreover, the advertisements that I design for these pages have allowed me to develop a vast range of design styles. I always prioritize the client’s theme while ensuring that the design is elevated to effectively communicate its point.
During my previous employment, I had the opportunity to work on the Mantality magazine, a product designed specifically for men. We conducted a contest to name the magazine, and I suggested the name ‘Mantality,’ which was ultimately approved. The magazine delved into the mental space of men, exploring how they think and act. I was responsible for designing the complete layout of the magazine.
In a more recent engagement, I worked on the SLW magazine. The variety of advertisers and the challenge of creating a cover and cover article that harmoniously complemented each other made this project a memorable experience. I was responsible for the complete pagination of the magazine. To provide a better feel, I incorporated textured elements from the articles into the design. For one issue, I used smooth fabrics to represent the clothing store status, and for the second issue, I utilized outside textures to provide a horse farm element that tied into the photos captured by the photographer.
